Our Planning Partners
The Nunavik Marine Region Planning Commission (NMRPC) depends heavily on the involvement of its planning partners and strives to work inclusively with all Nunavik residents and users of the Nunavik Marine Region. Communication and engagement with all planning partners are of vital importance to the success of the NMRPC.
Planning partners for the NMRPC include:
- Makivvik and the Governments of Canada and Nunavut as the parties who signed the Nunavik Inuit Land Claims Agreement (NILCA), the modern-day treaty that established the NMRPC
- Nunavimmiut (Inuit and Non-Inuit Nunavik residents)
- Adjacent Indigenous Peoples and communities as the Nunavik Marine Region includes Areas of Equal Use and Occupancy with the Inuit of Nunavut, Overlapping Interest Areas with the Cree of Eeyou Itschee, and Nunavik Inuit/Labrador Inuit Overlap Areas
- Agencies within all levels of government, including indigenous as well as local, regional, provincial, territorial, and federal government agencies
- Businesses and industry
- Other institutions of public government, including the Nunavik Marine Region Impact Review Board (NMRIRB) and Nunavik Marine Region Wildlife Board (NMRWB)
- Academic institutions and research organizations
- Individuals and groups with an interest in the social, cultural, economic, or environmental aspects of the Nunavik Marine Region, including public and private non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and Inuit initiatives
